mini-TWEWY shoot <3
Me as Shiki, and my Emily-dear as Neku. Both costume were made by me <3 Plus, some other awesome cosplay we happened across during the con!

-We were outside looking for the TWEWY photoshoot. Apparently, the shoot had moved, and it hadn't been corrected in the booklet, so we missed it. We did, however, get to hang out with an awesome Joshua cosplay <3 So nice!!

-Let me know what you think! <3

did you or whoever make that catdoll? i love it
Mihoyonagi Seto[info]mihoyonagi on April 14th, 2009 04:31 am (UTC)
No, the cat was the only part of the costume I didn't make. I had it made professionally by the most talented Heza Chan <3

Whoa, that's some awesome cosplay right there!! By the way, did you buy the yellow sweatshirt thing, or make it? Just wondering, because I'm making a Shiki cosplay myself, and I can't find even something to adjust anywhere...
Mihoyonagi Seto[info]mihoyonagi on April 16th, 2009 08:33 pm (UTC)
I actually made everything for both the Shiki and Neku costumes, minus the Mr.Mew plushie, by hand. And, to tell you the truth, I didn't use a pattern.

What I did was this: I cut the basic shape for a t-shirt (so I had two identical pieces of fabric, back to front) and cut a large portion out of the middle of one of them (for the opening of the jacket). I made a hood and attached it, and then made the trim (the white part) and simply sewed it on.
arthoniel: TWEWY- My Pretty Face[info]arthoniel on April 16th, 2009 08:56 pm (UTC)
Huh... cool! Generally when I make cosplays, I try to find pieces and adjust them- I just find it so much easier. Like, for the shirt, I bought a pink tank top in a thrift store, and cut a lot off the bottom, and then I'm just going to buy brown fabric for the trim... but yeah, that actually doesn't sound too hard for the sweatshirt! I was worried it would be a whole production to do it... thanks! :D

If I might make a suggestion, use brown paper grocery bags and make your own patterns =) That's what I do. They are free when you buy groceries, and they are really easy to draw on and manipulate.

Also, if you're unsure of how a pattern will turn out after you cut it, and don't want to waste your nice fabric, purchase flat/top sheets at places like Good Will or Value Village- I find sheets for about $1 to $4 there all the time, and it saves me bundles versus having to waste the nice fabric I bought for the actual costume. Also, I figure how how to sew the garment exactly how I want to without having any mistakes on the final product.

Well... most of the grocery stores I go to don't use paper bags anymore- they use plastic ones. Because they just care about the environment so very, very much. </ sarcasm>

But I might still be able to tape regular pieces of paper together or something, so that would work... thanks for the idea! :D

Try going to an office supply store and buying butcher/brown paper =) Any color works, and even if you have to spend a little bit more than you'd normally want in order to get the whole roll, it will be a LOOONG time before you'd ever need more.
